Every venue is different, so when you are booking with your venue, be sure to ask if gratuity is included in the contract fees. If the gratuity isn’t included (as it isn’t in Lesner Inn’s case), plan on tipping all staff members, including the catering staff, bartenders, chefs, & venue managers. Essentially all of the people who help serve you and your guests.
A basic rule of thumb is to tip 20% of the cost of your total catering bill. The venue managers will then split that money between all of the kitchen staff, catering staff, & bartenders. Another way to compute the gratuity is to offer a flat amount to each worker – which can be more economical at times. In either case, it is always nice to recognize all of the hard work done to create your dream wedding!
